And all good things must come to and end...

... but better things begin!

Like I said last year in my final entry of 2008, its been an action-packed roller coaster ride of a year. Another year later, and I can definitely say it has seen the best and worst of things. Walls have been broken, friendships have been made, but overall it was worth it.

[brief recap]
Can I honestly say I've learnt lessons? Soitenlee, Gov'nah. A lot of things that happened this year I can find memorable. I still think 2008 was a great year though. 2009, for me was the year of dealing with a lot of stuff, but its still a memorable experience I'd like remember. Everything from going to Hawaii and California, going around everywhere and meeting up with UTC again!!! My second Soundwave Festival, the amazing bushwalk with Lenny and Jasmine at Wentworth Falls (Blue Mountains), getting my green P's (lol), ze birthday parties (being the most drunk I've ever been at Wendys), my UTS-organised 20th birthday, the unexpected drama, other IT outings, the K sessions, a Night in Fantasia, catching up with friends I rarely get to see, St. Patricks Primary 3rd reunion, late/funny nights spent on L4D and MW2, and the other noteworthy events I fail to recall.

I'm sure I've missed out on a lot of other crap to mention but made my year FOR ME.

To all those that went overseas or interstate, enjoy as much you can and take care. Also, I know you can read my mind -- bring me back something nice. :D /cough. Wait, what? Philippines for me in 2010/11 and hopefully America (by myself) in 2011/12.

As my yearly tradition says - So long 2009 and thanks for all ze drama!

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR

k thanks and bye.

Random Cards to Random People.

So today I met up with Jelli to do some Christmas shopping. We went into Top Bargain and bought some cheap Christmas cards (and also a bow/headband for herself haha) because I think it looks greaat.

Anyway we had more cards than we needed, so what better way to get rid of the excess, than to cheer up a couple people for Christmas with it. We both wrote one, each for different opportunities. I wrote mine addressed to whoever picked it up and left it behind an Assassins Creed II box in EB Games. I wrote that it was from Tom Riddle.

After that (and some more shopping), we walked to Oporto’s and sat inside talking. She asked for wet hand towels, and the then-friendly cashier, Nikki, handed her two. She needed the towels to clean out the mess she had in her bag - and by mess, I mean the melted fizzer that made everything sticky. ;)

She needed more and didn’t want to ask, so I asked and Nikki for more, who mentions that she just gave my friend some and was reluctant to give out more, but I gave the excuse that I needed it for myself. She felt hesitant about giving too many away (because we only ordered drinks) and so we sort of felt bad.

This was Jelli’s opportunity for her card giveaway, so she addressed hers to Nikki. We apologised for the hand towels, but thanked her for them, and her service and told her to keep smiling in life.

We left that card on the table we were sitting at and walked out of there whilst she had her back turned to us.

This reminds me of the random postcards people slide into Post Secrets books.

It felt good. MLIA.

OH HAI.

CPU: Intel Core i5 750 $234
Mobo: Gigabyte P55-UD3 $132
RAM: G.Skill-Ripjaws 4GB DDR3-1333 $125
HDD: Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB $105
GPU: HIS 1GB ATI Radeon HD5770 $189
Case: Lian Li Lancool PC-K60 $125
PSU: Antec Neo Eco 500W $70
ODD: Sony-NEC Optiarc AD-7240S $43

Total: $1,023

mm.. MSY..

So.. recently, my computer has been shitting itself.

  • BSOD whilst having only 3-4 applications open.
  • CPU/RAM intensive processes leading to said BSOD.
  • Artifacts and broken textures in games.
  • Self-restarts (not from updates).
  • Crackling sound makes bass beats sound like a fucked up wind chime.
This really didn't help when I had to edit/put together a certain video because the sound was horrible. But whatevs.

-----------------------------

I made a Christmas wishlist (which includes the build above), along with other crap, but I'm too lazy to post up at the moment. Next time.

So my threadless shirt has stretched out a bit, sleeves are a little short, but oh well. Jelli's leaving for China soon, going to miss her! And also, it shall be a milestone in our friendship soon, so I put together something. HAHA. Shit I am somewhat, sort of, awesome. Also, I think I've been playing too much MW2. I'm starting to get a headache, that prompted me to go run on the treadmill for a bit and get some blood pumping. Did 20 mins on that and I feel fine!

:)

Also, whytf am I updating this again?

Digging through the Past

Today I dug through my shoebox of stuff.. and I found my awesome Sega World business card holder that I got when my mums old work held a function there. Excuse the shoddy photographing skills. I took it in poor lighting.

Anyway, its shiny, and has Sega World Sydney engraved on the front. Inside is where I kept the awesome.... and the ... strange...

Above:
1 Timezone ticket
1 Sega World ticket
1 AMF ticket
1 Sega World Token
1 Sega World card
1 piece of a ruler (explained below)

Missing from the pic:
Money (coins) from the Philippines and Singapore.

Above: Ok the story is... back in high school, I found this on the ground. I honestly don't know what I was thinking at the time, but the animals intrigued me. So I kept it, took it home and decided to see how long I could keep it for... so I wrote, on the back, the date I found it.

Over 7 years, I've kept a piece of a ruler that should've just been thrown in the bin. Haha. Bloody awesome, I reckoooon. :D

Headed some place new

"Walls" by All Time Low was my top song for some time because it gave me the encouragement I so damn needed. Same with "Dare You to Move" by Switchfoot. I was telling myself, "Okay, this is it." It was either, don't and regret, or do and regret. Why I had to give in to external factors is beyond me. I'm confizzled?

"I don't mind spending everyday, out on your corner in the pouring rain."

Well anyway, I bought another shirt today from Glue. I like it, everyone else liked it, so I bought it. At the moment, my threadless shirt is a temporary pillow cover because its a tad too tight. I'm pretty sure this method will stretch it too, right? Correct. Of course. Or I could get someone fatter to put it on. I have plenty of candidates there.

All or Nothing

I've started a tumblr.

http://its-adrian.tumblr.com/

I don't know. I think I'm still going to update this from time to time. Man, I still update my xanga one every now and then and that is like 4 years old or something. Anyway, lots of things happened, lots of things not happening. Long ass hours spent on MW2 with Ivan, Thien and Jason, and my other friends. After a week and a half, I've racked up 70 hours or so. Compared to L4D, that is fast because my total playtime on L4D is ~480 hours over the course of a year. Hell yeah? ...

Twitter and tumblr. Btw, Jay Seans album rocks my socks off.

Roach and Ghost Die, and Shepard too. There, I just ruined MW2.

Wakari masenka?

Okay, now today I did something drastic. Do I regret it? Perhaps, perhaps not, most likely not because it was a burden to me for a while. Although... I don't know what I'm doing now or what I'm meant to do... or what I should do.

I don't think I have the worst luck here, I'm also not an idiot, I also don't think I'm deserving of anything, I'm not doing anything wrong either, so why do I lack results?

Who. Knows.

GET OUT OF THE WAY!

The situation:
You've just got off the bus and you are on your way to meet up with someone, or even catch the train to reach that end of the rainbow. Everything's riding on your shoulders, you're making great time to beat the meet-up time, the winds in your hair, and you feel like nothing can stop you now. Nothing... until... your pace breaks. What was once a steady stride to your goal has now been turned into a turtle-paced lead boot marathon, caused by none other than the completely ignorant slow walker. Oh how quickly my disrespect-o-meter rises when I'm behind them.

I don't get these callous characters. They're either individuals, or they walk in packs. Packs that can't be avoided. Walking at their own pace with no respect for the appropriately speeded walker behind them. hahaha. I understand if they're walking with someone, but alone, they're nothing more than a walkway hog. The escalator rule should apply to the walkway lol.

Minesweeper Bonanza

Recently I've been getting addicted to minesweeper. 100 games later, I had a gut feeling that this game would be the one to finally get my first win on advanced, so I took screenshots.

Great start. I clicked randomly hoping to open up a few big ones. hehhh.

So far so good..

Getting there.. 38 mines left to flag..

Okay, by now I was stuck for a bit because I couldn't find where I could open up next..

Until I found the bit on the top, and now all thats left is the guessing part. HELLO, NERVOUSNESS. (Disregard the time I have taken)

...sigh...

FFFFFFUUUUUUUUUU......

My pride and joy.

The Awkward and the Damned.

I am, of course, referring to awkward conversations that lead to a dead end, as this is a topic I've mentioned to people and confronted people with doing. I've had my fair share of experiencing them, and I've also done it to others. Conversation killers, I call them.

I can almost feel as if I'm leading myself down a dead end, stuck in a conversation that will undoubtedly get me that very important sensation of feeling bored, not interested, or simply with just nothing else to reply with. These things require special actions and reinforcement. What used to be a topic of agreeable awesome standards can now be hindered with the undesired result of 3 simple characters:

"lol"

The motherload of it all. It prescribes the shutdwn of a conversation. In some instances, it means the writer of the 'lol' wants to move on, or simple doesn't have anything better to reply with. On the receiving end, one abruptly discovers theres nothing more to respond to, and thus ends all.

Awesome Storyteller: So Paranormal Activity was such a scary movie. OMG I was so freaked out by the end, I almost have skid marks on my underwear. What did you think of it?
Awesome Replier: lol
Awesome Storyteller: ...

Or even replies like "yeh", or "nup". As Amanda Bynes said in She's the Man, FLOW IS FLOW. AND YES I DON'T MIND CHEESE. I've heard it been said before (can't say who said or received, because it sounds harsh either way): "Learn to keep it flowing, you suck to talk to."
haha.

I noticed I've done a lot of this to keep it going, and that is asking questions, to the point where I've taken the role of an interviewer/interrogator. I guess its better than the awkward silence. Which brings me to my next topic: awkard topics.

These convo's just warrant a "lol." ending. Questions need not apply, because after the who, what, when, where, and hows are over with, its just done.

Unless of course there is humourous appeal to it, in this case, I am going to end with this awkward topic I just encountered and prompted me to do this entry:

(name hidden to avoid embarassment)

bobthebuilder says: hey man. i want let something off my chest but promise you wont say anything
adrian ! needle and haystack says: yeahh what sup
bobthebuilder says: i did a poo
adrian ! needle and haystack says: .........
bobthebuilder says: it came out as pebbles
adrian ! needle and haystack says: LOL
bobthebuilder says: hahah
adrian ! needle and haystack says: what the eff!
bobthebuilder says: it means i have not enough fibre
bobthebuilder says: it has to be cigar like
Take note, the person saying this is a girl, and goes against all male belief that:
  • Girls don't poop
  • Girls don't fart either

Case of the Clueless Asian Lady

I'm not one to complain, but when it comes to helping randoms, there has to be some level of sanity from them. Today as I got off the train from central, I walked towards the stairs going down heading into the tunnel. At the top of the stairs was an asian woman wearing the ugliest pair of green pants my eyes have ever seen. As soon as I approached her, this is what happened:

Asian woman: Hey! Excuse me, could you please walk me down the stairs?
Me: Yeah sure.
Asian woman: Hold my hand please..
Me: Um... okay..

At this point I'm holding a complete strangers hand, not her arm or anything, her hand. At this point she pauses and I'm standing there in limbo holding this womans hand. People walking past me kept looking at me. I was getting impatient so i asked her:

Me: Um.. the railings right there. Do you need help?
Asian woman: *no response*

She then walked down the stairs, not even holding onto the railing. WTF? (edit: Maria: "She's just trying to hold your hand"). Got to the bottom of the stairs, thinking I was free from the awkwardness, I let go of her hand.

Then she began demanding me to hold her hand again. People behind me knew she was a stranger to me, and I still did what I thought was right.

Asian woman: Hold my hand.
Me: (thinking) um wtf, I am holding your hand.
Asian woman: TIGHTER!
Me: um.. okay.. (crying inside)
Asian woman: yes... tighter...
Me: Um.. are you okay? Do you need help? (I thought she was depressed or something)

At this point I began looking around at the people around me, or at cameras, thinking I was on some hidden camera show. She began doing these squats or whatever, the sort of stance you have in primary school when you're busting to go to the toilet.

By now, i thought she needed to go to the toilet. It was scary.

As we approached the ticket barriers..

Me: Uh.. I'm kind of in a hurry..
Asian woman: (pausing in 2m in front of the barriers) Walk me to the barriers.
Me: Uh okay...

I walked forward but she wouldn't follow (still holding her effing hand). Then she let go and ran for the barriers. To which I then ran away to avoid her at the other end.

PS. Maria is funny and likes to bake cookies.

Ban-anner.

Because Tim suggested this... I included the banners I used, didn't use and plan to make.

Banners that I've used on my blog (in chrononological order)

My personal favourite (hot air balloon).

... and so begins the bananer peel project.
Yes, I'm aware the text slightly changed from the first to second one.

Banners that didn't make the cut.

Um.. was trying to convey the transition from adolescence to adulthood. lol.

(Jasmine, shh)

Works in progress/Concepts/Ideas/Stuff

Couple of random stuff

The banner I made for my clans forum a couple of years ago. lol. Back when we used to play competitively. Yes, interesting clan name too. We were all a bunch of idiots, and we still are. Funny dudes.

Haley Williams, random.

The Xanga backgrounds I made are a different story. Its where I began actually using photoshop. I think that was back in 2005 or something. Then came myspace, and I got a bit better I guess. I hope to get even better in future because... Young Workers poster competition is now being held every 2 years. I should've promoted mine more to get more votes. Hahah. Oh well, I tried? 2010, here I come!

I Want.

The "I wants" are like an incurable infection. Its contagious, and it won't go away. Hearing about dreams makes you want some of your own, but before that you begin with the little things. Can you honestly say that after achieving your wants that you are 100% completely satisfied? There are but 6 things on this list that I can confidently say will make my life complete.

I'm aware that as we grow, so does this list, until we reach that threshold of satisfaction. But until then...

I want a new computer.
I want to excel in uni.
I want those clothes.
I want to meet Story of the Year.
I want to feel giddy.
I want Story of the Year's new album.
I want more of You.
I want to get rid of my lazyness.
I want a room makeover.
I want COD: Modern Warfare 2.
I want you.
I want a car.
I want pop rocks.
I want to understand how the world works.
I want to go sky diving.
I want to go quad biking.
I want to be successful.
I want to be able to pay off my uni debt.
I want a Disney marathon.
I want to go on an adventure.
I want to feel like I'm dependable.
I want to be less of who I am, and more of who I aspire to be.
I want to do/see the things on my "places-to-go" list.
I want pez.
I want to go to Jamberoo.
I want a future/career I can enjoy.

I DON'T want to start over again.

To be continued... or maybe not.. I think that's all.

Edit: Jasmine brought to my attention the ad about the Jesus: All About Life campaign. I saw them set up around the city and I see the banner around schools I go by, and so I went to check the ad on youtube. I think this entry is so fitting, along with the section starting at 0:10s (Shoes, Jas? HAHAH.)

The Cheapskates.

Location: Norita
Situation: Indecisive about food... we really didn't feel like eating, just felt like taking a nap there. Until we saw the picture of the choc fondu.. except we didn't want the fondu, we just wanted the wafers.

Jelli then pushes the button without warning to call the waiter and pretends to fall asleep so I'm left to the wolves (the waitress).

Waitress: Hi, can I help you? :)
Me: *flipping through the pages of the menu to find the fondu picture* Hi... um... is it possible if we could.. uh.. just get the wafers?
Waitress: The wuhfes?
Me: Um.. the wafers?
Waitress: Yes the wuhfes.. Umm.. I give you two wuhfes. Because.. *chuckling* I don't know if have enough.
Me: TWO?

(At this point, I don't think she knew I wanted a whole BOWL of wafers)

Waitress: Yes, I can give you two for free.
Me: ..How much is that?
Waitress: Two wuhfes... :)
Me: Oh for free? Ok. Thanks
Jelli (to me): Order something else! Can't just get free stuff!
Me: But I don't want anything else!
Jelli: Get the drink!
Me: I don't want the drink though!
Jelli: Can I get the Lemon Iced Tea? Thankyou

Hahaha saved.

Direct linked. I will wait till someone tells me off. I love ice cream cones. I love plain pasta with no sauce.

That is all.

Today Jeaneline and I got free food from Lennys work (visited and also to give the debut invite), then went to Rouse Hill.. with Jeanelines soccer mum car, in the pouring rain, to go buy Gaytime Krushers from KFC.. where we also got free food from one of Jeanelines friends working there. Gave so much, we got so full.

Moral of the story: Food is good. Free food is even better.

Making Waves

The difference might not be there in the video, but it is.. and my room feels 'cleaner'. I did a bit of dusting (minus the duster), vacuuming and rearranging. Behold, the half-assed job.

No one can resist the awesomeness of the Pokerap and my favourite of all Pokemon theme songs - Pokemon: The Johto Journeys.

At 2 minutes, I broke my keyboard desk thing (accident). The wheel that it rests on just broke.. its plastic, so I couldn't do much about it. It still slides out though. Cleaning out my tower was a bitch. So much dust. Even after cleaning it, I still got a bit of artifacts on my screen. I faced the fan in my room into the tower and it sort of worked.

Also... walking to the station today, I almost got stopped by those dudes who ask you to sign up to stuff.

Dude: Hey buddy have you heard....
Me: (interrupting, whilst continuing to walk away) I'm not 21!
Dude: Oh you're not 21 yet? Cya later.

Thankyou.

Then coming home from getting a haircut, waiting for the bus at Blacktown station, these Red Bull girls were giving away free Red Bull.. at Blacktown.. I know right. So they were moving from bus stop to bus stop (since its at the bus station/bay place) and this bogan dude 3 bus stops down notices them giving away free drinks and so he yells "come over here, bitches! /bogan laugh". I'd imagine a bogan laugh to be spelt HIYHAHAHAHEHUA. Anyway, they came over my way, told them I got a haircut, told me they liked it, then gave me my free Red Bull. Why couldn't it have been Vitamin Water?

Phase 5001: Decisions and the compu-nerd.

In the case of Woody or Buzz Lightyear - I chose Woody. Won't ever changeee.

-------

Anyway, I've been looking at upgrading my current computer. I looked online and it appears that most people upgrade within 2-3 years. Criteria depends, but most do it for games, application workload, speed etc. How bout all of the above? Originally I wanted a new video card, as my current one seems to be turning to crap - as if its starting to overheat. But then if I upgrade that, everything else needs to be upgraded. Newer, faster, quicker response time needed, therefore new CPU, therefore.. new motherboard, therefore, new power supply, therefore, new case. My current recommended wishlist:

Mid-Range Multi-purpose Build:

CPU: Intel Core i5 750 $268
Motherboard: Gigabyte P55-UD3 $154
RAM: G.Skill 4GB DDR3-1333 $109 (maybe DDR2)
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB $104 or Seagate Barracuda 500GB $62
GPU: HIS 1GB ATI Radeon HD4890 $239
Case: Lian Li Lancool PC-K60 $125 or the Antec 300 $99
PSU: Antec Earthwatts 500W $103

= ~$1,000

Hopefully it'll last 5 years. And if that's "Mid-Range".. then what the hells mine? Super Low-range?

Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 @ 1.86GHz (stock, not OC'ed)
2GB DDR2 RAM
300GB HDD
256MB 7600GT
Antec Sonata II Silent ATX Case

The place where I got my current computer has prices that exceed those prices by $100 for some. Pricey! MSY ftw.

But seriously, running the system idle, with no applications eats over 50% of my RAM already, and the geek inside me wants to try Modern Warfare 2 on something that looks decent. Early Christmas? :(

I Can't Help It

You know we kill it teamed up. I'm as myself as I can be when you're in the air. It's comfortable here.

New banner. Slightly changed. Mehhh. "SEND THE SMS THIS WEEK". LOL. Okay, enough being silly. You can make out some of it.

Just got home from some intense programming with Jasmine, the screamer of unnecessary things on the train. It was intense, that she started to cry. I really hope I get it done. :( Anyway, enough about uni because I dread that word.

A Night in Fantasia 09 is in just over 2 weeks. Arghh I'm excited for it! Play! A Videogame Symphony was bloody amazing. It literally sent shivers up my spine to hear such awesomeness rolled into one. Looking forward to hearing the epic MGS score again, on top of other ones I'm looking forward to. :)

Eminence = win.

----------------------------------------

Also, lately I've begun a Pokemon project with Mel. This involves us attempting to draw the original 150 Pokemon. I think its quite fun, I love her drawings, they're so good. And well.. mine are just a pile of burning unicorn ass hair.

Also, I tried this for the first time, its a bamboo charcoal bun. It was tasty. in the sense that I just imagined it was something else and not a giant lump of black/burnt peanut-looking bread.

Chinese Hickey Doctor at the Garden Buffet

Random banner is random. I think every few days (ok who am I kidding, maybe weeks) more of the banner will be lifted open. Hahaha. Or not. Anyway... since it was suggested we blog about it.. here is my take on last Thursday...

----

Last Thursday was the day another teenager (term used loosely) bit the dust and found themselves in the ranks of the 20 year olds. It never actually hits you, and you do feel a degree of denial because if anything, the teenager years define the most awesome times of your life (minus the whole school thing). It was Lenny's 20th birthday.

Anyway, the day start at around 10:00am when Lenny came to pick me up to go to Blacktown station. I shouted him his train ticket (bar 60c) and then we preceeded to catch the train to Wynyard. We had some Taboo games for the whole trip, and along the way Jasmine calls to ask about Lennys present. I think i did a pretty good job of trying to keep the convo subject subtle since Lenny was sitting right next to me. We reached Wynyard to meet up with Jasmine, then business Tim came shortly after from work.

For lunch we ate at the Altitude Restaurant at the Shangri La Hotel. The actual restaurant was situated on the 36th floor, which was actually the highest you could go and the view was ama-za-zing. The food was equally as nice. They had a range of seafood and meats as well as chocolate fondu and other assorted desserts that I dug my teeth into. During the meal, I must've ate the most mushroom I've ever eaten in one go. Took 1 glass of water to wash it down but it was worth it.

The view from the top floor

Walking to Botannical Gardens via Opera House way!

Towards the end of the lunch, we handed over his present from General Pants then took some photos. The restaurant staff also came out with a little surprise of their own and brought out two cupcakes with candles and sang happy birthday. That was not planned either, but they must've heard us sing happy birthday and so decided to bring that out. Would've been funny if we were singing that for fun on another day, and they came out to sing that. :] lol

After that we headed to Botanic Gardens to go and relax for a bit before leaving. Said goodbye to Tim at central then headed back to Jasmines house for some strawberry cheesecake. It was delicious/scrumdidlyumptious. Got dropped home after that and finished off my assignment.

11 pages of awesomeness, and 1 day of celebration.

Weekly Dosage of Things

Sunday: Park with Jasmine, weather was awesome, so took that opportunity to go snack on junk food.

Monday: Uni, typical day, boring lecture (and lecturer, I should add).

Tuesday: Uni, plans failed to watch the 7pm session of District 9, so Shirley, Lenny and I played a game of bowling, then ate at Panarotti's, then caught the 9:30 session. The movie was amazing. Peter Jackson = winner. 5 thumbs up.

Wednesday: Uni, ate my Maltesers. UTS vs UNSW dance comp, bought A Night in Fantasia 2009 tickets with Ada and Lenny. (woo! Can't wait :)) Went gym that night with Lenny, arms just shutdown so quickly. NTS: Don't sleep before leaving.

Thursday: Took advantage of the weather so went to Darling Harbour by myself to study whilst I wait for Jasmine to get out of class. Went to Parra when she got out, shopped and ate at Criniti's. She's right, their Risotto is freakin' awesome (minus the mushrooms that I extracted from my food). :) The meatballs were tasty too haha. $45 well spent. Saw Gabby, Christine and Christian on the train and got dropped by Christian. The pictures below don't do it justice, they appear darker than it seemed. It was so bright.

Friday: Stayed at home and went to Blacktown, bought my Ash Ketchum hat, Jelli came over at night to help her with her project.
