Chinese Hickey Doctor at the Garden Buffet

Random banner is random. I think every few days (ok who am I kidding, maybe weeks) more of the banner will be lifted open. Hahaha. Or not. Anyway... since it was suggested we blog about it.. here is my take on last Thursday...

----

Last Thursday was the day another teenager (term used loosely) bit the dust and found themselves in the ranks of the 20 year olds. It never actually hits you, and you do feel a degree of denial because if anything, the teenager years define the most awesome times of your life (minus the whole school thing). It was Lenny's 20th birthday.

Anyway, the day start at around 10:00am when Lenny came to pick me up to go to Blacktown station. I shouted him his train ticket (bar 60c) and then we preceeded to catch the train to Wynyard. We had some Taboo games for the whole trip, and along the way Jasmine calls to ask about Lennys present. I think i did a pretty good job of trying to keep the convo subject subtle since Lenny was sitting right next to me. We reached Wynyard to meet up with Jasmine, then business Tim came shortly after from work.

For lunch we ate at the Altitude Restaurant at the Shangri La Hotel. The actual restaurant was situated on the 36th floor, which was actually the highest you could go and the view was ama-za-zing. The food was equally as nice. They had a range of seafood and meats as well as chocolate fondu and other assorted desserts that I dug my teeth into. During the meal, I must've ate the most mushroom I've ever eaten in one go. Took 1 glass of water to wash it down but it was worth it.

The view from the top floor

Walking to Botannical Gardens via Opera House way!

Towards the end of the lunch, we handed over his present from General Pants then took some photos. The restaurant staff also came out with a little surprise of their own and brought out two cupcakes with candles and sang happy birthday. That was not planned either, but they must've heard us sing happy birthday and so decided to bring that out. Would've been funny if we were singing that for fun on another day, and they came out to sing that. :] lol

After that we headed to Botanic Gardens to go and relax for a bit before leaving. Said goodbye to Tim at central then headed back to Jasmines house for some strawberry cheesecake. It was delicious/scrumdidlyumptious. Got dropped home after that and finished off my assignment.

11 pages of awesomeness, and 1 day of celebration.

Weekly Dosage of Things

Sunday: Park with Jasmine, weather was awesome, so took that opportunity to go snack on junk food.

Monday: Uni, typical day, boring lecture (and lecturer, I should add).

Tuesday: Uni, plans failed to watch the 7pm session of District 9, so Shirley, Lenny and I played a game of bowling, then ate at Panarotti's, then caught the 9:30 session. The movie was amazing. Peter Jackson = winner. 5 thumbs up.

Wednesday: Uni, ate my Maltesers. UTS vs UNSW dance comp, bought A Night in Fantasia 2009 tickets with Ada and Lenny. (woo! Can't wait :)) Went gym that night with Lenny, arms just shutdown so quickly. NTS: Don't sleep before leaving.

Thursday: Took advantage of the weather so went to Darling Harbour by myself to study whilst I wait for Jasmine to get out of class. Went to Parra when she got out, shopped and ate at Criniti's. She's right, their Risotto is freakin' awesome (minus the mushrooms that I extracted from my food). :) The meatballs were tasty too haha. $45 well spent. Saw Gabby, Christine and Christian on the train and got dropped by Christian. The pictures below don't do it justice, they appear darker than it seemed. It was so bright.

Friday: Stayed at home and went to Blacktown, bought my Ash Ketchum hat, Jelli came over at night to help her with her project.

"A beautiful girl can make you dizzy, like you've been drinking Jack and Coke all morning. She can make you feel high full of the single greatest commodity known to man - promise. Promise of a better day. Promise of a greater hope. Promise of a new tomorrow. This particular aura can be found in the gait of a beautiful girl. In her smile, in her soul, the way she makes every rotten little thing about life seem like it's going to be okay." - Beautiful Girls (1996) / "Great Romances of the 20th Century" by Taking Back Sunday

Take Me Back

Twenty-three and invincible
Got the world figured out
And the bird on my shoulder told me,
"Everything's gon' be alright (woah-oh)
and that means everything gon' be alright"

kthxbye

PS. I'd like to meet this bird, tell it I'm a bit slow, then maybe feed it some bird seeds from my pocket with the hole at the bottom.

Addicted to playing the game.

Flying off the Grounds of Uncertainty

I had a meaningful entry drafted about failing plans/planning but I think I'll save that for later.

--------------------------

New blog banner. One I actually didn't make (except for just adding the text), and its from the trailer of Peter Jackson's adaptation of the best-selling novel by Alice Sebold, The Lovely Bones.

I haven't read the book but damn, it looks amazing.

Anyway, was at uni yesterday to do some study and make some inquiries about my enrollment. :) I got much study done. Met up with Lenny, who was with Derrick, who were both writing their letters to the Dean. Their case is dragging on for too long, so good luck to them. James and Thien came soon after and we just chilled in the labs till they left for the Start of the Semester party.

One thing that we played was a brain game on Facebook, appropriately titled "The Brain Game". It addresses the way we process visual information in order to create a visual model of the world.

This is the image that had me frustrated to the tip because I couldn't get it to spin the other way as the other guys could.

Right vs Left Brain - Which way is the girl spinning?

What this actually is, is a two-dimensional image just moving back and forth, but our brains interpret it as a three-dimensional model, hence why some people can see it going anti-clockwise, others - clockwise (Yes, I did my research).

Left Brain people see it going anti-clockwise, Right Brain thinkers see clockwise.

Thien, James and Lenny could see it going both directions, except they had no control over it. MINE JUST KEPT SPINNING CLOCKWISE.... so unless they were just bs-ing me ... then I'm a heavy right brain user.

I looked up the differences and here they were:

RIGHT BRAIN FUNCTIONS
uses feeling
“big picture” oriented
imagination rules
symbols and images
present and future
philosophy & religion
can “get it” (i.e. meaning)
believes
appreciates
spatial perception
knows object function
fantasy based
presents possibilities
impetuous
risk taking

LEFT BRAIN FUNCTIONS
uses logic
detail oriented
facts rule
words and language
present and past
math and science
can comprehend
knowing
acknowledges
order/pattern perception
knows object name
reality based
forms strategies
practical
safe

There it is, the last two definitely acknowledge the differences. Although, this image isn't a justifiable test to actually identify your personality (obviously). It really just describes how we approach the image and subconsciously break it down. Its a fun game though.

After all that, had Pizza Hut buffet (again!) at George St then headed home.

EDIT: I worked it out. If you were stuck in clockwise-world like I was, just look at the reflection at the bottom. Her foot sticking out makes it look like shes going anti-clockwise.
