Archers in your Arches

Moment of the Day:
Jelli drowning in a sea of school kids.

Catch up time!

Went to the city to catch up with Jelli aka Jerri last Wednesday. It started off by me shouting nuggets (since we do make up 100% of Team Nugget, emphasis on the 100%) since I was the late one. Afterwards we headed to the Powerhouse Museum because what day wouldn't be complete without a visit to a museum. It was $5 entry, so it was a win-win situation.

Got inside and checked out many of the exhibits (although not all!). Unbeknownst to our knowledge, we were reminded that it was in fact still a school day and so explained the influx of little kids and TB's. They were all over the venue, but one of the most memorable moments (Memorable Moment #1) would be when I had exited a small room showcasing past Australian utensils and such. I turn to see if Jelli had also come out, but no, it was obvious the kids were holding her back. I look back, and my theory appeared true. It was like struggling against a river rapid. Completely blocking the doorway, all I could see was Jelli's upper half amongst the young kids intrigued by a dead wallaby behind the glass. It looked like this:

Sadly, it was bolted down.

The point of this experiment was to look stupid.

We were in there for about 3 hours, checking out the Space and Science experiments, the giant piano and other musical instruments and Zero Gravity Space Lab. That was fun. I didn't feel weightless at all though, just dizzy.

Afterwards, we met up with Jeff and headed off to sing k. (Memorable Moment #2) Coming out of the museum that consisted of a LOT of Australian history, Jelli, Jeff and I began to sing Waltzing Matilda. We were all in our own little world until a LOUD SCREECH occured, followed by a thump then the sound of glass breaking. Everyone had heard it. Turning around quickly, a 4WD had hit another car and began rolling/flipping, eventually coming to a halt upside-down. We were all in shock. Half the street came running towards the victims. Here's hoping nothing serious!

Eventually we made our way to K. Not because we're asian, but purely for the enjoyment of screaming at the top of our lungs and having fun. People must be thinking, why pay $10 for something you can do at home for free? The fact that I don't even have that equipment (oh noes, a filo family without magic mic! Or any sort of kareoke!) makes up for that, as well as the place and sound. (Memorable Moment #3) Well the screaming and having fun was achieved, along with losing my voice to Girlfriend by Avril Lavigne. lool. That one song strained it so bad.

It was Jeanelines birthday party today so Lenny came to pick me up, the off we drove to Pancakes at Northmead. We didn't know what to expect because of all her youth and high school friends, but with all of us being from the Blacktown area, a handful of familiar faces were there. :) Briefly caught up with Leandra and Ivy, then we had to order. I had the Devil's Delight with 2 extra pancakes. Man, was I wrong about this. As soon as I got it, I dug straight into it, that hunger gradually slowed down to a standstill when the chocolate pancakes just looked like shit. Literally. Not to mention the (very thick) Iced Chocolate drink to go with. Argh. All in all it was good though. Managed to finish that monster.

After Pancakes, we headed to Jeanelines house. Played with their gym equipment then headed up to Christian's room to play guitar for a bit, then headed back down for some Guitar Hero. Awesome night!

The last Programming Fundamentals assignment was due soon and so was the last ever lecture for it. In the time up to the leadup to the due date, there was plenty of time again spent in the labs to do some work. All of us were being productive, until the inevitable bludging occured (this time MacBook Cam Whoring 101:

Friday, 31st October 2008 - HALLOWEEN!
What better way to celebrate the completion of another programming assignment, then to catch a movie. I couldn't make Celine's in time because we had gotten out pretty late after programming so I was bummed about that. Argh, sorry again Celine if you're reading!

Using our free movie ticket, Jasmine, Lenny, Ada, Gloria, Jason, Nam, Gordon and I watched Saw V. My opinion? Worst Saw movie out. Traps were okay. The plots just getting out of hand now, Jigsaw sets up traps, he's almost dead, so someone else takes over, then they die, and Jigsaw dies, then someone else takes over. Kill them already and make it stop. Anything past 3 isn't worth it. Then again Saw VI could bring it back, but I strongly believe it won't.

Drove to Nicoles house since the other days had to be called off. Got there around 10.30, watched Rogue (that giant croc movie) then went to Winston Hills Shopping Centre to eat. I won't even go into details about that, because .. just because. (lol shutup) But anyways, thats where the quote at the top of this entry came about. After eating, headed back to her place to play some Mario Kart Wii. We both got owned playing online, but oh well it was fun. Got a good laugh out of that.

Headed home after that, and now I'm blogging about me blogging. Powerhouse Museum tomorrow! :)

Tide is High!

Moment/Quote of the Week:
Moment when Gordon thought it was Negrophilia, rather than hearing necrophilia.

What I hate most about not blogging for a while is the little details you miss out on when you actually try to blog about it. Not to mention how untrustworthy my memory is.

Lets see..

Wednesday, 8th October
Tim's bday performance.
Got to uni around 12.30ish with Lenny, met up with the other guys then headed off to the alumni green for Tim. The day consisted of Tim playing (also in front of randoms that Ivan and I rounded up, ok more like 1 random), Tim shouting us ice cream cake :) Then heading to the VIP lounge to eat some $8 steaks. One memorable moment was on the way to the lounge, Tim voluntarily and unhesitatingly told us to cross the road when it was still green, informing us "do whatever you want, its my birthday", so we did, oblivious to the lights, we crossed and a van came beeping at us madly, speeding up (hoping to hit us? Who knows) then narrowly avoiding us. Yay.

After the steaks we headed back to the alumni green for some hacky sack then headed off to programming.

Thursday, 9th October
Hung out with Lenny, Jeaneline and I on the last week of her holidays. The day started off with me heading to Jasmine's house in the morning to give/teach her some stuff, then watching a bit of Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. That was fun because LOTR owns. :)

Drove back home, then Lenny picked me up, then we picked up Jeaneline, then headed to Pancakes at Northmead.

Afterwards, we went to some lake at Bella Vista. Fun times walking around the lake taking luvo's, seeing yobbo's jump into the murky lake, seeing ducks, attempting to "borrow" the wheelbarrow, then sitting on a hill for 2 hours just staring at the sky, until eventually heading back to the carpark to play some hackysack and talk. :)

The day ended with us driving around for a bit, driving to Lenny's mates house who wasn't home, then since we had no where else in mind to go, we all headed back home.

Saturday, 11th October
Went to Castle Hill Library to go study with Nicole, because she obviously had HSC, and I had 3 exams on the following Monday. Actually got some study done for the first couple hours before heading into Towers for some lunch. We saw some of the girls in the Miss Universe prelims - they weren't that hot, so we moved on. Caught up with each other, then headed back into the library. Nicole had to activate her new optus number so she rung up the number on the instructions.

What was supposed to be an informative conversation about activating the SIM, turned into a 'gossip'/'small talk' convo between the Indian guy and her. HAHA. Both our faces were as confused as ducks on a playswing. But it was hilarious because it went for about 20 minutes.

Fun.

Wednesday, 15th October
Eagle Eye!

We had already spent a while in the labs doing nothing, so, I forgot who actually suggested it, but whoever it was suggested to watch Eagle Eye. I already knew the stuff presented in the programming lecture, so off Gloria, Jasmine, Lenny and I went to Broadway to watch Eagle Eye.
It was definitely worth it. The movie was great, and the voice of ARIA was done flawlessly to capture that slightly robotic, and psychotic tone. Movie rating: 8 fruit tingles out of 10.

Coming out of the movie, we were all quoting ARIA, then on the way back to UTS, we got in the elevator and none of us were aware we had those ones that told us what level we were on, so when we reached the second level, out of nowhere we all heard a "You are now on Level 2" in that SAME (well similar) voice as the one from Eagle Eye. Jasmine and Gloria freaked. It was hilarious. xD

Friday, 17th October
The supposed day of Programmng.

Well not really, we went to go buy a frisbee, which eventually broke thanks to me throwing it over the fence and it smashing onto concrete. Oh well, it performed even better after that. After we got bored of that, we played a game of touch footy with the tennis ball. Man, did it get hot or what. Sweaty everything. But it was a good laugh for what we did. We went into the labs to do some programming. It was the first week I never got it marked, it was too hard! Damnit. But oh well, after that, we headed to the lockers outside the IT lounge for some random stuff. Then some other random stuff happened. And we also got free sandwiches and drinks. :D

Saturday, 18th October
Went with Billy, Justin, Ricky, and Ivan for some drinks and clubbing. Went to Maloneys, bumped into Jeff and Jelli there! Hurray, because I haven't seen 'em in ages now. Started off with long island ice tea. Oh man, and the best part is, we got (well Ivan ordered it, I dunno what he did) FOUR of them for $2.40. 60c each! DEAL. Anyway, after that headed to the Pavilion then to St James.

Good and Bad Procrastination

Currently listening to:

Dear Diary

Reason for lack of blogging: No Time.

It was an awesome second week of "holidays". I suppose thats the only way to describe my supposed week of dedication to getting things out of the way. Namely my partnered assignment for Mobile Networking. John understands, its all cool!

Anyway, without further ado...

Sunday, September 28:
Tim, Ivan and I decided to go eat somewhere. Lots of unfortunate things happened. But the gist of it is:

  • Tim having trouble finding my house
  • Us having even more trouble finding Ivan's house
  • Taking one too many wrong turns and/or missing the exit.
  • Finding Ivan's house because of the odd numbering system
  • Deciding to eat at Chilli's (YAY) ............ before finding out they've been closed since March. Standing outside those boarded doors = owned.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
    "Lets eat at Chilli's!"
  • Tim stating that he did not drive all the way to Penrith to eat fast food.
  • ............ resorting to Maccas because Tim needed to go home.
  • Ordering 50 nuggets through Drive-thru (finally some compensation for our growling, hungry stomachs!) ......... only to find out the chick forgot to give us sweet 'n sour sauce. Great.

T'was fun though. :)

Monday:
Lenny, Jeaneline and I decided to go watch Wall·E today. 4.15pm was the time we all agreed upon because Jeaneline had to go to her mum's birthday dinner. Ivan messages me and I invite him along. Drove up to Jeanelines mansion to go pick her and Laurence up. By this time it was already 4.30pm, so we knew we would miss the start of Wall·E, and if you miss that, screw watching the rest. So we just bummed at Rouse Hill, talked, then drove back to Jeanelines house, greeted her mum happy bday then left to meet up with Tim at Rouse Hill.

We all then decided to eat at Hogs Breath at Castle Towers.

Tuesday:
Since we didn't watch Wall·E yesterday, Jeaneline, Lenny and I decided to watch this today. The movie was great. I probably wouldn't rate it as high as Finding Nemo, as I personally think that's better, but both are still awesome. Maybe after a few more views..

EEEEVV-UHHHH!!!!

Wednesday:
Met up with Jelli in the city. Our routinely catch up day always consists of some singing, so what usually happens is we go to Darling Harbour, and watch the kiddies play in the park. Cough. And if they're worthy, maybe they'll hear us sing our hearts out. jk Jelli you pedo. After our inevitable trip to Maccas to have nuggets, we headed to K for 2 hours. That was fun :) as it always is.

After that, we went to go shopping. Jelli bought these cool striped Mossimo shorts with buttons on the side pockets. Great choice (by me). Then we headed to the food court underneath Myer and caught up on the things in our lives, but had to leave because of the ear-piercing siren that kept going off. *shakes fist*

Thursday:
Another organised day of movies and bike riding with Lenny and Jasmine. Lenny decides to arrive filo time, so by the time we got to Jasmine's, we were already on the brink of dehydration. Nonetheless, we soldiered on and started the day off with a movie.

Throughout the day we watched a total of 4 movies. Which were The Devil Wears Prada, Battle Royale, The Butterfly Effect, and Zathura. All were great movies. Only one I hadn't of seen before was the first one. I thought it was great. For lunch we ate at Panarotti's at Blacktown. We devoured our meal pretty fast, which consisted of The Mobster, and Three Cheese Pizza.

I was so stoked to go bike riding in the 33 degree heat, so off we went. We rode to the park nearby to go play in the playground and be kids again, then we rode into the forest! That's always a blast because mountain biking is also on our agenda... once Jasmine gets the hang of riding through ditches. :)

This is how asians roll.

Friday:
I.T. BEACH OUTING! Met up with Jasmine at Blacktown station then met up with Jason/George Wong, Dizzy, Tim and Hazel at Central. Trained, then Ferry'ed it to Manly to head to Manly beach. The weather was great, perfect for the day. Played some volleyball, even though we couldn't get a good rally going a majority of the time, then went in for a swim. Leg cramped up one too many times (which still aches now when I walk -.-), so that was uncool. But overall it was a pretty enjoyable day.
